Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 6, 2026. This policy explains how MakerHub handles personal information when you use our marketing website, student application, and related services.

1. Who we are

MakerHub (https://makerhub.tech) is an exam-preparation platform operated from Kathmandu, Nepal. Our student application is available at https://app.makerhub.tech.

For privacy requests, data deletion, or any questions about this policy, email support@makerhub.tech or hello@makerhub.tech.

This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

2. Scope

This policy applies when you:

  • Browse our marketing website (makerhub.tech)
  • Create an account or sign in to the student dashboard (app.makerhub.tech)
  • Use practice, exam sets, Maven AI, analytics, tasks, review tools, or knowledge features
  • Participate in an organization or institute workspace on MakerHub
  • Contact us for support, sales, or partnership inquiries

3. Information we collect

We collect information necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service. Depending on how you use MakerHub, this may include:

Account and identity

  • Sign-in data: When you authenticate with Google, we receive information such as your name, email address, and Google account identifier. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Profile and preferences: Display name, exam track selections, plan tier, timezone, locale, and settings you choose in the app.
  • Organization membership: If you join or are invited to an institute workspace, we store your role, organization identifier, and activity visible to authorized organization administrators.

Learning and product usage

  • Practice and exam-set activity: questions attempted, answers, timing, accuracy, flags, bookmarks, and session outcomes
  • Review Hub and task data: spaced-repetition progress, study plans, and assigned tasks
  • Analytics derived from your usage: topic mastery estimates, performance trends, and weak-area signals
  • External test marks or notes you voluntarily enter
  • Knowledge documents or files you upload, and metadata needed to display or search them

AI interactions

  • Prompts and messages you send to Maven AI or practice tutors, including question context needed to generate explanations
  • AI usage metadata such as model used, token counts, success or failure status, and rate-limit events
  • Optional bring-your-own-key (BYOK):If you choose to connect your own AI provider API key in settings, we store and use that credential to route requests on your behalf. You are responsible for your provider's terms and billing.

Technical and device data

  • Device type, browser, operating system, screen size, language, and approximate timezone
  • IP address, request logs, timestamps, and diagnostic data for security and reliability
  • Cookies, local storage entries, and similar technologies described in Section 8
  • Crash reports, error events, and—where enabled—session replay data with sensitive form inputs masked by default

Communications and marketing

  • Support emails and messages you send us
  • Transactional emails such as welcome or account-related notices
  • Campaign attribution parameters (for example UTM tags) when you arrive from a marketing link, stored to understand how users discover MakerHub

We do not intentionally collect government ID numbers, payment card numbers, or health records. Do not submit sensitive personal information in free-text fields unless we explicitly ask for it.

4. How we use information

  • Provide and maintain the Service, including authentication, syncing progress, and institute features
  • Personalize learning paths, recommendations, analytics, and AI explanations
  • Operate Maven AI and related features, including abuse prevention and quality monitoring
  • Send service-related communications and respond to support requests
  • Measure product performance, debug issues, prevent fraud, and improve reliability
  • Understand acquisition channels and product adoption through analytics
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect users and the platform

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your private study content to train public third-party foundation models for unrelated purposes.

5. Legal bases (where applicable)

Depending on your location, we process personal data on one or more of the following grounds:

  • Contract: Processing needed to provide the account and features you request.
  • Legitimate interests: Securing the platform, improving product quality, and understanding aggregated usage, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent: Optional analytics on our marketing site where a cookie banner is shown, and any optional communications you explicitly opt into.
  • Legal obligation: When required to retain or disclose information under applicable law.

6. AI and automated processing

MakerHub uses automated systems including large language models from providers such as Google (Gemini) to generate explanations, study suggestions, and related educational assistance. Outputs are probabilistic and may be incomplete or incorrect. They are not a substitute for professional, medical, legal, or official exam advice.

When you use AI features, relevant question context and your messages may be transmitted to the selected AI provider for inference. If you supply your own API key, requests are sent using that credential according to your provider's policies.

Some learning content may be AI-assisted or based on publicly available syllabi and references. It is provided for practice support only—not as a guarantee of exam performance.

7. Institute and organization accounts

If you use MakerHub through a school, coaching center, or other organization, authorized administrators may access cohort-level analytics, assigned content, and membership information needed to manage learners. The organization is responsible for having a lawful basis to onboard students and for its own privacy notices. MakerHub processes organization-related data to provide the Service to both the institute and its members.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies, local storage, and related technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in and maintain session security
  • Remember optional analytics consent on the marketing site
  • Store first-touch campaign attribution across makerhub.tech and app.makerhub.tech
  • Measure visits and product usage through analytics tools

Examples include:

  • Essential / functional: authentication session cookies required for the dashboard
  • mh_analytics_consent: your analytics preference on the marketing site (when the consent banner is enabled)
  • mh_attr_v1: first-touch marketing attribution parameters
  • Analytics identifiers: PostHog and related product-analytics cookies or local storage entries

On makerhub.tech, where enabled, you may accept or decline non-essential analytics cookies through our banner. You can also control cookies through browser settings; disabling essential cookies may limit sign-in or core functionality.

9. Third-party service providers

We use trusted processors to help run MakerHub. They may access personal data only to perform services for us and subject to contractual safeguards. Current categories include:

  • Authentication: Google OAuth for sign-in
  • Hosting and infrastructure: cloud providers that run our API, databases, and web applications
  • Product analytics and session insights: PostHog (including error tracking and session replay with input masking)
  • Marketing analytics: Google Tag Manager and, where configured, Google Analytics
  • Error monitoring: Sentry
  • AI inference: Google and, when you enable it, other AI providers using your own API key
  • Email delivery: providers that send transactional messages on our behalf

Some providers may process data in countries other than Nepal, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual data-protection terms offered by those vendors.

10. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Usage logs and analytics may be retained for a shorter or standardized period depending on the system. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable timeframe.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong Google account and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

12. Your rights and choices

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
  • Export certain data in a portable format where technically feasible
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, email support@makerhub.tech. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. If you are an institute learner, your school may also hold information independently-contact them for organization-specific requests.

13. Children's privacy

MakerHub is designed for exam aspirants and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should use the Service only with permission from a parent, guardian, or authorized educator.

If you believe a child has provided us personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

14. International users

MakerHub is based in Nepal and serves learners preparing for exams in Nepal and abroad. If you access the Service from other countries, your information may be transferred to and processed in Nepal and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using MakerHub, you acknowledge such transfers as described in this policy.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated through the Service or by email. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
